FIXED OR REMOVABLE DENTURES
Fixed prosthetics can be crowns (a single piece) or bridges (several pieces joined together) made of porcelain, lithium disilicate, or zirconia using CAD/CAM technology. Removable dentures are made of resin; they replace an entire arch or part of it and may require metal reinforcement frameworks. Both fixed and removable prostheses can be supported by implants and natural teeth, or they can be hybrid prostheses.
IMMEDIATE OR DEFERRED
Immediate dentures are placed after teeth are extracted, so they are usually prepared in advance, before the extractions. Their advantages include immediate aesthetic results and confidence; however, these prostheses require adjustments after the healing phase to ensure a comfortable and proper fit. Deferred prostheses are placed after the healing and remodeling phase, a few weeks after the extractions.
